Obituary
Hannah Dunlap, the beloved wife of Dr. A.R. Dunlap, passed from this to the higher life, at the family home in Ripley, Sunday morning, March 17. Had she lived until May 28, she would have seen 89 years of life. She was born in Bingham, Maine and was the daughter of Charles and Hannah(Lancaster) Stinson. Her girlhood was spent with her parents on the farm. After a time she, with her family, moved to Clinton, Maine, where, at the age of 22 years, she became acquainted and married Amos R. Dunlap. Subsequently, they moved to Ripley, where they have since lived and where he became a practicing physician. Seven sons ere born to them, two of whom died in infancy, Laforest at age of seven, and Samuel after reaching manhood age. For 67 years this venerable couple had walked and toiled together, sharing each others joys and sorrows, sunshine and storm. She was of a retiring and yet a genial disposition, caring little about going into society, preferring the quietude of her own home, where she was ever ready to welcome all who sought her company. Her life was one of devotion to her family, and her happiest hours were those she spent in ministering to the wants and necessities of those who needed sympathy and aid. It is with pleasant memories that the members of her family think of her kindly work and pleasant smile as rewards for well doing Her Godlike life and graceful bearing was in inspiration to all who came into contact with her. And everyone felt that in Aunt Hannah, as they used to call her, they had a true and loving friend. To say that she a loyal faithful and a devoted wife and a loving mother is the most eloquent eulogy that could be pronounced upon the life and character of any human being. Besides her husband, she is survived of there sons, J. Harvey Dunlap of Lawrence, Mass. Henry C. of Manchester, N.H, and Sewell F., who still lives on the old home farm, the care and support of his aged father. The funeral was held Tuesday at the Methodist church and was largely attended. Rev. B.G. Seaboyer officiated. Eugene Tripp had charge of the funeral arrangements. Burial took place in the family lot in the new cemetery. The following acted as pall bearers: Messrs. Frank Randall, Horation Bryant, Newland Woodcock and John Jones, all old friends and neighbors of the family.
