Obituary
ROY A. SAMPSON Funeral services were held last Saturday at Springfield, Mass., for Roy A. Sampson, 62, formerly of Ripley, who died the previous Thursday in that city. The Rev. Harold B. Keir officiated at the service held at the Dickinson-Streeter Funeral Home. Burial was in Hillcrest Park cemetery. Bearers were three members of Post 21, American Legion, and three delegates from Esoteric Lodge of Masons. He was born in Ripley, June 5, 1892, son of Charles H. and Etta (Willard) Sampson. He had made his home in Springfield for 40 years, and had been associated with the A. G. Spaulding Brothers Company for 27 years as an inspector. He was a member of Wesley Methodist Church, Esoteric Lodge of Masons, Bay Path Lodge of Odd Fellows, and was a past patriarch of Agawam Encampment. A veteran of World War I, he was with the 305th Ordnance Detachment for two years and served overseas for 13 months. He was a member of Post 21, American Legion. He is survived by his wife, Helen (Aldrich) Sampson; a son, Donald R. of Springfield; a brother, Ralph, of Dexter, and several grandchildren.
