Charles A. Bugbee, 79, a native of Washburn and prominently identified with Northern Maine and Canadian lumbering interests during his lifetime died Tuesday afternoon at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Charlotte Carter, 44 Fountain Street, following a long illness. he was the son of the late Alfred Charles and Mary Smith Bugbee. He spent the early years of his life in Texas but returned later to his native Maine and married Celia Stairs Bugbee who survivies him. Alson surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Charlotte Carter of Bangor; two sons, Shirley L. Bugbee of Dexter, Herschel G. Bugbee of Dover-Foxcroft; three grandsons, Charles S. Carter, of Lubbock, Texas, Shirley M. Bugbee and Wallace Bugbee, students at the University of Maine; four granddaughters, Mrs. Harvey Price of Boston and the Misses Charlotte and Jo Ann Bugbee of Dover-Foxcroft and Mary Bugbee of Dexter; one sister, Mrs. Katie Porter of Washburn and five brothers, George M. of Redlands, California, Herschel, Harry, and Ernest of Washburn, and Arthur of Newport. Mr. Bugbee was a member of the Masons and of Grace Methodist church of Bangor. Private funeral services will be held at the residence, 44 Fountain Street, Friday afternoon at 1 p.m. Friends may call Thursday evening.
