VIOLA B. WATSON CORINNA - Viola Bernice (Maudy) ‘Watson was born and raised in Edmonton, Alberta to Michael and Pearl (Binney) Maudy on Sept. 4, 1925. She passed away at her home on April 28, 2014. Viola joined the Canadian Women’s Army Corps and began training in x-ray technology in Ontario where she met and eventually married Neal Watson of Toronto, Ontario,. while he was still in veterinary college. Vi and Neal moved to Dexter in 1953 where Vi raised 5 children: Susan, John, Laura, David and Miller, assisted in Neal’s veterinary practice, helped run the family farm and was active in the Episcopal church and the arts community. She was anaccomplished painter, weaver, seamstress, bee keeper and gardener. She was very active in the Sebasticook Garden Club, Dexter Bridge Club, Dexter Jay Cee-ettes, the Make It Yourself with Wool competitions, Maine Spinners and Weavers Guild, the Cooperative Extension Service including starting 4-H Clubs when her children were young, and the Dexter Farmer’s Market, which is still running. Viola will be sadly missed by her husband of 67 years; her 5 children; 11 grandchildren and 12great-grandchil- dren, for whom she provided an enriched and creative environment, warm smile and wry wit. She was predeceased by a son, Norman Herbert Watson, her parents, Mitchell and Pearl Maudy and her brother, Leonard Maudy of Vancouver Island, BC, Canada. A Memorial Service will be held ii a.m., Saturday, May 3, at the Penobscot Lodge, fvlasons, #39, located at 200 Dover Road (Route 7) in Dexter.
