Obituary
BARTOLO M. SICILIANO Bartolo M. Siciliano died at the Plummer Memorial Hospital, Dexter, on Sunday after a long illness. His death at the age of 58 brought to a close a long and distinguished career. For 25 years he was a practicing attorney in Dexter where he had also served as a judge of the municipal court. For many years he was chairman of the Dexter Finance Committee and at the time of his death was a director of Civil Defense in Dexter. Private funeral services were held Monday in South Sindham followed by burial in the family plot there. Stores in Dexter were closed during the funeral and the flag at the Dexter Post office was at half-staff. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society or to a favorite charity in his name. Born in Lynn, MA, in 1914, Sicliliano went to Italy while an infant, returning to the United States in 1919 at the age of five. He resided in Portland until 1947 when he moved to Dexter and has resided here since. He was the son of the late Arnold Sicliliano and Mrs. Maria Siciliano of South Windham, who survives him. He passed his bar examinations before he had reached the required age and had to wait until he was 20 to be admitted to practice. He was a member of the Penobscot and Maine Bar Associations. Active in Dexter affairs, he served as municipal court judge for two years, retiring from the bench when the present District Court system was inaugurated. He was a member of the Dexter Club, the Knights of Pythias and the Dexter Civil Air Patrol, and was a director of Civil Defense in Dexter at the time of his death. He also attended the First Universalist Church in Dexter. Besides a mother he leaves a daughter Maria, who resides in Alaska, a sister, Miss Julia Sicliliano of South Windham; two brothers, Joseph of Dexter, and Arnold of South Windham and a cousin.
