DEXTER—James E. “Bud” Nichols, 83, died October 13, 2012 at a Bangor hospital. He was born April 21, 1929 in Monticello, a son of Paul and Vera (Hutchinson) Nichols. He graduated from Ricker Classical Institute, Class of 1948. Bud owned and operated James E. Nichols & Sons Trucking Company. He was a member and deacon at the First Baptist Church in Dexter and will be remembered for his storytelling. He is survived by his wife, Katherine of Dexter; 2 sons and their wives, Douglas and LaDonna Nichols of Dexter and James E. and Cindy Nichols of Ripley; a daughter, Anne and husband Neil Clukey of Dexter; a sister Vesta and husband Ronald Porter of Hermon; 5 step children; 16 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; nieces and nephews; and many special friends. There will be no visiting hours. A graveside funeral and committal service will be held 1 P.M., Saturday, October 20th at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Dexter, with the Rev. Jay Brennan officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the First Baptist Church, P. O. Box 573, Dexter, ME 04930. Arrangements are by Crosby & Neal, Dexter.
