Obituary	DEXTER – Gary E. Olmsted, 52, went to be with his Lord and Savior, October 17, 2010. He was born February 10, 1958, in Dover-Foxcroft, a son of Roger and Marian (Weymouth) Olmsted. He enjoyed his many years at Pine Tree Camp in Belgrade where he started attending summer camp when he was 7 years old. Gary attended Cerebral Palsy School in Bangor, Bangor High School, and graduated fifth in his class from Dexter Regional High School, Class of 1979. He also attended the University of Maine studying computer science. He was an assistant scout leader with the Dexter area cub scouts and also served on the board of directors with United Cerebral Palsy of Northeastern Maine for a number of terms. Gary ran a business from his home –Olmsted’s Printing- where he prepared the church bulletin for the First Baptist Church in Dexter, of which he was a member, and printed various business related items. He enjoyed the New England sports teams and watched all televised games. He was an inspiration to many people, proving to others that just because you are confined to a wheelchair, anything is possible. He enjoyed proving people wrong when he was told that he couldn’t go places or do certain things. In addition to his mother, he is survived by his step-father, Jerry Townsend of Corinna; his siblings, Joanne and husband Philip Robeson of southern New Jersey, Kenneth and wife Dianna of Yarmouth, Ronald and wife Traci of Barnstead, NH, and Steven and wife Haley of Washington, and Dawn and husband Steve Dobbs of Danbury, Vermont; 2 step-brothers, Scott Townsend of Seattle, Washington, and Leland Townsend of Indianapolis, Indiana; a step-sister, Kelly Townsend Cullen of Greenwood, Indiana; many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins; and many friends. Gary was predeceased by his father Roger. A memorial service will be held 2 PM Saturday, October 23rd, at the First Baptist Church of Dexter, with the Rev. Jay Brennan officiating.
