Obituary
FRED M. AVERY Funeral services will be conducted tomorrow (Friday) afternoon at 1:30 o'clock at the First Baptist Church for Fred M. Avery, 83, who died Monday night at his home in Dexter after a short illness. The Rev. A. Allan Brough will officiate and burial will be in the Higgins cemetery, Corinna. He was born in Greenfield, Jan. 28, l871, son of Jeremiah and Mary Jane Avery. When a young man he was employed as a carpenter in Old Town, and later purchased a farm in Veazie. He came here 26 years ago and owned and operated the former Barton farm until failing health forced him to retire. He was a member of the Knights of Pythias and Macabbees, and at the time of his death was a member of Dexter Grange. He is survived by his wife, Eva (Fisher) Avery; three daughters, Mrs. Margaret Pooler, Corinna, Mrs. Florence Tyler and Mrs. Ruby Towle, both of Dexter; two sisters, Mrs. Maude Rand of Old Town and Mrs. Gertrude Potter of Alton; six grandchildren and one great grandchild. Friends may call at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Tyler, until Friday morning.
