Obituary
Mrs. Imogene Hamilton The death of Mrs. Imogene Hamilton occurred at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Ella Abbott, Church street, early Sunday morning after an illness of several months. The deceased was the widow of George Hamilton of this town and was a woman highly respected and loved by her many friends. Mrs. Hamilton’s maiden name was Chapman and before coming to Dexter she was a resident of Oxford. She was prominently connected with the First Universalist church and was active in the work of that church. Mrs. Hamilton is survived by her daughter, Mrs. Abbott, and by a sister, Mrs. Alden of Plymouth, Mass., who has been with her for several weeks. A large number of friends of Mrs. Hamilton assembled at the residence of Mrs. Abbott yesterday afternoon, to pay their last tribute to her beloved memory. The service was impressively read by the Rev. S. G. Spear, pastor of the Universalist church. An unusuall large number of floral offerings and h designs were silent tokens of the love and esteem in which she was held, some of the very noticeable emblems being the offering of Martha Washington Rebekah Lodge, No. 18, I. o. 0. F., The First Universalist church, Womans’ Literary club, T. P. M. club, Wassookeag chapter, No. 44, Order of the Eastern Star, of which organization Mrs. Hamilton was a valued member. Delegations from many of these societies were in attendance at the service. The bearers were Messrs.. Dana Crockett, G. J. Weymouth, C. M. sawyer, W. H. Judkins, P. A. Abbott and S. S. Ireland.
