ARTHUR AMBROSE DEXTER — Arthur Ambrose, I 83, died Sunday, June 15, 1980, at the VA Hospital in Togus following a short illness. He was born in Dexter Aug. 12, 1896, son of Stephen and Mary (Higgins) Ambrose. He attended Dexter schools. He was a communicant of St. Anne’s Catholic Church. He was on honorary life member of the Knights of Columbus. He retired a few years ago alter having been employed for a lengthy time at Foy and Scott Machine Shop. He served in the Army during World War I. He was a 50 - year member of the Poulliot - Seo.vey American Legion Post. He served in various local, state and notional legion offices, among which were a past notional delegate and a tast director of Moine child, welfare for the Legion. He was active throughout his life in youth work in theDexter area, particularly as an umpire for Littleleogue: He is survived by two sisters, Mrs. Irene Gilbert and Mrs. Anita Savage, both of Dexter; two brothers, Julian Ambrose of Dexter, Nelson Ambrose of Marshfield, Moss.; several nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 9a.m. Tuesday at St. Arme’s Catholic Church. Friends may call at the Crosby Funeral Héme, 238 Main St., texter, on Monday from 2 to 4and7to9p.ni., whereprayers will be said at 7 p.m. Interment will follow in the Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Dexter.
