DEXTER, April 15—Dr. Arthur C. Strout, 75, prominent Dexter physician, died early Saturday morning at a local hospital after an illness of several weeks. Dr. Strout was a graduate of; the College of Physicians and Sturgeons at Boston in 1904 and interned at the City Hospital at Schenectady, N. Y. He did graduate work In obstetrics at Robinson Memorial Hospital in Boston and practiced in Boston for a year before returning to Maine. He practiced at Garland for 15 years before moving to Dexter 36 years ago. In 1954, he was presented with a medal by the Maine Medical Association In recognition of 50 years of general I practice. Dr. Strout was a member of the taff of Plummer Memorial Hosoital and in addition to his general practice served as anesthesiologist at the hospital. He Was a former vice president of the Penobscot County Medical Association and a member of the Maine and American Medical Associations. A charter member of the Dexter Eiwania Club, he was affiliated with the Masonic and Odd Fellows Lodges. He attended the First Universalist Church. Born at Sanford April 7, 1881, he. was the son of Greenleaf A.; and Annie Lowell Strout. Surviving are lis wife, Mrs. Mabel Ridley Stiout: two sons, Thester R. of Dext”r and Dr. Warren G. Strout of Bangor; fiv grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday afternoon at 2 o’clock t the First Universalist Church, with the Rev. Richard Norsworthy, pastor, officiating.
