CAMBRIDGE/DEXTER - Lula Mae (Buzzell) Bunker, 108, passed away October 30, 2013, at Dexter Health Care. A resident of Cambridge since 1934, Lula was born September 10, 1905 in Etna, a daughter of Ellsworth and Elizabeth (Soule) Buzzell. Lula attended schools in Etna, graduated from MCI in Pittsfield in 1923, and attended Farmington State Normal School. In 1927 she married Robert N. Bunker of Main Stream, ME who predeceased her in 2005 after 77 years of marriage. In addition to teaching school in Athens and Harmony, she was employed at Baxter Canning Company in Hartland, Snowflake Freezing Plant in Corinna, and as a bookkeeper for Bartlett Woolen Mill in Harmony and Bunkers Garage in Cambridge. Lula was a member of Cambridge Baptist Church and a past member of Eastern Star, Farm Bureau, and Snow Devils Snowmobile Club. Lula and Bob loved their camp at Moose Pond and their Cuddy Lot. They enjoyed the outdoors of Maine while traveling in their motor home, flying, fishing, snowmobiling, and four-wheeling. Lula continued their traditional evening games of Liverpool Rummy with family and friends until she was no longer able to live alone. Since May 2011, Lula resided at Dexter Health Care. She is survived by daughter Marita Bunker Farrar and husband, Rodney of Ripley; daughter-in-law Nancy Bunker of Cambridge; nephew Freeman Buzzell, Jr. and wife, Donna of Madison; six grandchildren, Dennis Folsom and wife, Sonia of Readfield, Brenda Folsom and husband, Gerard of Parkman, Pamela Farrar of Ellsworth, Timothy Farrar and wife, Rhonda of Sidney, Valerie Bunker Ripley of Windham, and Mark Bunker of Cambridge; fifteen great grandhildren, and seven great great grandchildren. In addition to her husband, Bob, she was predeceased by her twin sister Laura Buzzell in 1909, brother Freeman Buzzell Sr. in 1945, daughter Elizabeth Bunker Folsom in 1962, grandson Douglas Folsom in 1966, daughter-in-law Sharon Bunker in 2002, great grandson Cohn Noiles in 2008, and son Robert N Bunker Jr in 2011. Friends may call from 9 to 10 AM on Saturday, November 2, 2013, at Crosby & Neal, 61 Main Street, Dexter, where funeral services will be held at 10 AM with Pastor Lois Field officiating. Burial will be in the Cambridge Memorial Gardens.
