FRED R. ABBOTT DEXTER, June 19—Fred Richard Abbott, 26, died suddenly late Sunday afternoon at the summer cottage of Mr. and Mrs. Donald Cross. He had just returned to the beach after swimming. He was born at Dexter, son of the late Fred A. Abbott and Mrs. Howard Smith of Presque Isle. Mr.’ Abbott was a graduate of Bowdoin College in the Class of 1951, a graduate of Deerfield Academy and did graduate work at Babson Institute at Boston. He was a member of the board of directors of the Amos Abbott Company of Dexter and clerk of the company, a member of the Dexter Club, Penobscot Lodge No. 39, AF and AF, and Beta ‘Theta Pi fraternity. Surviving are his wife Marilyn Cross Abbott and two children of Dexter; his mother, Mrs. Howard Smith of Presque Isle; a brother, George, A. Abbott of Dexter; a sister rs. Thomas Tillson of Dexter; several cousins, nieces and nephews. Funeral arrangements will be announced. DEXTER, June 23—Funeral services for Fred Richard Abbott were held at the First Universalist Church Wednesday after noon at 2 oclock with. the Rev. J. Robert Bath officiating. There vas also a Masonic service. Bearers were Ernest Getchell, Robert Tilison, Robert Whitney, Henry J. Atwood and Donald Champeon. all of Dexter; and. Horace Gordon, Jr., of DoverFoxcrot. Interment in Mt. Pleasant cemetery.
