DONALD E. GORDON DEXTER - Donald E. Gordon,87, fell asleep peacefully on earth and awoke in heaven December 24,2010. He was born April 16, 1923 in Dexter , a son of Leo Brooks “LB” and Edith (Jaquith) Gordon. He graduated from N. H. Fay High School, Class of 1942. Don had been accepted at the University of Maine to study engineering, but was drafted into World War II with the first group of inductees from the State of Maine. He proudly served his country as an Army Amphibious engineer in the South Pacific. Don owned and operated Don’s Texaco in Dexter for many years. He also worked at Eastland Woolen Mill in Corinna where he met his wife. He will be remembered as an avid Red Sox fan. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing, model airplanes, pool, ping pong, softball, bowling, cribbage and the Gordon family geneology and history. He is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Hazel (Jones) Gordon of Dexter; his four children, Lois and hus:9ourtxtm Toudi Morist Sprityj Street çjreenhzouse band Jim Crawford of Brunswick, Thomas and wife Rosalie Gordon of Newport, Donna and husband Chuck Patterson of Dexter, Sandra and husband Richard Thomas of Dover-Foxcroft; a brother David and wife Mona Gordon of Garland, a sister, Maijorie and husband James Welch of Port Deposit, MD; 8 grandchildren, Heidi Osborne, Suzanne Osborne- Smith, Stephanie Osborne-Rafford, Rachel Gordon, Jeremy Patterson, Amanda (Patterson) Lane, Elizabeth Hardwick and Jennifer Merrill; 9 great grandchildren, Nicholas Osborne, Samantha and Sarah Smith, Reilly and Cameron Rafford, Lukas and Caleb Patterson, Felicite Lane, and Andrew Hardwick. He was predeceased by 6 brothers, Alfred, Ernest, Earl, John, Fred and Frank; and a sister, Dorothy (Gordon) Lam- bert. Funeral services were held Wednesday, December 29, at New Hope Baptist Church, Spring Street, Dexter, with the Rev. Harold Wheeler officiating. Spring burial and a military committal service will be held at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery Dexter. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Shirley B.
