Obituary
VERNIE E. WEBBER GARLAND - Vernie Webber, 84, passed away peacefully in his Garland home on Monday, May 31, 2010. Vernie was born with his twin brother Renview in Carmel, Maine on Feb. 24, 1926, sons of Ivory & Susie Webber. Vernie enlisted in the US Marine Corps on 1/21/44 and served throughout the South Pacific with the 3rd Marine Division as an ordinance specialist and tail gunner on B-25 bombers. His last military assignment involved the removal of Japanese troops from the hills of Mainland China. He was honorably discharged on 6/6/46. Vernie settled in Dexter, raising his family and working as a man versatile in many professions (policeman, mill worker, wood cutter, furnace man and carpenter). He was known throughout the area as a hunter with precision, speed and marksmanship, particularly in long-distance shooting. Vernie was predeceased by his wife Jane Marie, his sisters Ruby & Barbara, brothers Gordon, Renview, Harland, and Allen and a great granddaughter Iza. He is survived by his five children, Linda Wing, Greg Webber and his wife Charlotte, Brenda Landry and her husband Russ, Jeff Webber and his wife Sonya, and Jennifer Webber and her companion Greg Brawn; a sister Rilla and brothers Merville, Ivory, Manford, Forrest, Glenwood, Gardiner, Leroy, Alton & William; 14 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild, mimerous nephews and nieces, and a good friend Ethel. As a loving, generous father, a good brother and friend, all will miss Vernie. At Vernie’s request there will be no funeral or visitation hours. A celebration of Vernie’s life will be held at the convenience of the family. Arrangements under the care and direction of Dan & Scott’s Cremation & Funeral Service 445 Waterville Road, Skow hegan.
