Marie A. Melvin DEXTER – Marie Melvin, widow of Alfred “Hoppy” Melvin, died August 29, 2012 at a Dover-Foxcroft nursing home. She was born May 22, 1941, in Portsmouth, NH, a daughter of Vallair and Violet (Brown) Goulette. Her parents were killed in a car accident when she was a year old. She was adopted by Frank Godreau and moved to Dexter, where she graduated from Dexter High School. She was a communicant of St. Anne’s Church and worked as an education technician for the Dexter school system. Marie was “special” to many special needs children. She also enjoyed camping in her early years with her husband Hoppy and family. Marie is survived by 2 sons, Mark Melvin and Heather Gudroe of Dexter; Ricky Melvin and Donna Gray of Sangerville; a daughter, Tammy and husband Tod Tibbetts of Dexter; a brother, Ronald and wife Nancy Goulette of Dexter; 2 sisters, Charlene and husband Forrest Webber of Garland; Patricia and husband Paul Avery of Bristol, NH; 3 grandchildren, Heather and husband Scott Dobson, Abbie and Macie Melvin; 4 great grandchildren, Darci, Owen, Sophia and Steven; several nieces and nephews; and her beloved companion Larry Clark. Friends may call from 3 to 5 PM Sunday at Crosby & Neal, 61 Main Street, Dexter, where funeral services will be held at 11 A.M. Monday, with the Rev. Kent Ouellette officiating.
