LOUISE E. SWANTON DEXTER & BELFAST – Louise (Robbins) Swanton, aged 100, of Achorn Rd, Belfast, died December 19, 2009. Her husband of 55 years, George Coakley Swanton died in 2005. She leaves two sons, Henry E. Peach and his wife Deborah Nowers of Wales, MA and William N. Peach and his wife Beatrice of Pinellas Park, FL; eight grandchildren, including Pauline Peach of Bangor, nineteen great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren. Louise was pre-deceased by two brothers, George and Hervey Robbins; two sisters Sadie Galego and Adelle Robbins and a granddaughter Lucinda Peach. Louise was born in Belfast, the daughter of Elnatha and Adelle (Cottrell) Robbins. After attending two years of college, she became a tool designer and checker for Raytheon Manufacturing and later worked as a station agent and telegraph operator for the Boston & Maine Railroad. She was a member of the Order of Railway Telegraphers, a Past Matron of the Dexter Grange and a member of the State and National Granges, and a Past Regent of the D.A.R., Rebecca Weston Chapter of Dexter, now, the Dover-Foxcroft Rebecca Weston Chapter. She and her husband lived most of their adult lives in Massachusetts. They retired to Dexter and then moved to Belfast in 1996. Graveside services will be held in the spring at the Smart Cemetery in Belfast. Arrangements are by the Thompson Funeral Home, 17 Hudson St. Corinth, ME 04427.
