Obituary	ALBINA BRADFORD CROCKETT 1846 - 1913 Albina B. Crockett was born in Abbot, Maine July 22, 1846, the only daughter and oldest child of Sylvanus and Ann (Howard) Kendall, and she died in Springfield, Mass. April 5 1913, while on a visit to the home of her only son, Ernest Dana Crockett. She began teaching school at the age of fifteen years and became a very efficient teacher. Later she learned dressmaking and millinery. The Kendall family came to Dexter of Albina's time was spent in Dextime on the first farm north of the float bridge. From that time most of Albina's time was spent in Dexter where she taught school with good success, did dressmaking and for a number of years she was in the millinery business on Main Street. She was always interested in the temperance cause and the work of the church and in all things tending toward the betterment of society in general. After they came to Dexter in 1886 to make their permanent home, both Mr. and Mrs. Crockett were willing workers in all good causes. Mrs. Crockett was one of the leaders in the Dexter Womans Christian Temperance Union and at times held state offices in the Organization. She was a good and efficient superintendent of the Dexter Universalist Sunday School for a number of years and was a help in all departments of church work at all times. Mrs. Crockett was always a trusted friend and good neighbor. Among Mrs. Crockett's outstanding talents was her ability to draw and to paint in oils. In many homes in Dexter were to be found some of Mrs. Crockett's flower pieces. While she excelled in flower painting she also did landscapes and other studies. Her work was mostly original. She seldom copied a picture, even one of her own composition. She had classes in drawing and painting, and she also filled orders for pictures.
