Obituary
Mrs.Laura Bryant Tibbetts Died in Dexter, Nov. 23,1933, aged 76 years _ Mrs. Tibbetts was born in Ripley Sept. 3,1857, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Hanson. At the age of 17 she was united in marriage with Horatio Bryant. To this union eight children were born. The deceased lived in Ripley 55 years. She was a member of the Woman's Relief Corps of Dexter, and as a charter member of Ripley Grange, and a great worker in it. Her belief was "Whatever your hands find o do, do it with 'all your might." She was a kind wife, mother and neighbor, and was ever ready with a helping hand for all who needed aid in any form. In sickness or trouble she always could be counted upon. She had a sunny, hopeful disposition and carried cheer and, courage into her homes. In 1912, she went west, settling in Washington, living there a few years, but after the dwath of her husband, rent to Sierre Madre, Cal, where she had a new home built and lived for some years. In 1923 she was married in California to Leonard Tibbetts of Dexter, living part of their time in California ad a part of it in Dexter in their: home on Highland avenue. Three rears ago Mr. Tibbetts died. Mrs. Tibbetts again journeyed West but in less than one year returned to her Dexter home. Fourteen months ago she suffered a severe shock, from which she never was able to rally. Her daughter, Lottie, and son-in-law, George Bertrand, tenderly cared for her to the last. Through these long, weary months she was a great sufferer and a patient one. She was remarkable for her stability of mind, when she was called to exchange time for eternity, she gave directions concerning her funeral, selecting her minister, her singers, and making all plans with the same calmness and presence of mind, as if going on an earthly journey. Laura was the youngest and last of a large family of 13. Mrs. Tibbetts is mourned by a large circle of friends. To know her was to love and respect her. Three children survive her: Charles Bryant of Gardiner, Mass.; Alger Bryant of Bellingham, Wash., Mrs. George Bertrand of Dexter; also , 18 grandchildren, four great grard children and several, nieces and nephews. The funeral services were conducted by the Rev. Mr. Mercer at the Methodist church in Ripley. Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Stafford of Fairfield sang two beautiful requested hymns; Face to Face, and Beautiful Isle of Somewhere. There were many beautiful flowers. Burial was in Ferndale cemetery at Ripley Mills. "To die is landing on some friendly shore, Where billows never break, nor tempest roar." A Friend.
