Obituary
Elwin Macomber The news of the death Friday morning in Waterville, of Elwin Macomber, for many years a resident of Dexter, brought regret to many here. Mr. Macomber was born in Abbot years ago but came to Dexter when a small boy, where he attended local schools and worked for a number of years in the gentlemen's cloth store of N. E. Meigs. He was a voted and active member of the local First Baptist church and superintendent of the Sunday school as well as influential in the activities, of the young people's society of the church. From Dexter the Macombers went to Charleston and later to Hinckley, where he was connected for a number of years with Good Will Farm. For the past few years he has been employed as carpenter of the rooms of the Historical Society in Waterville, he and his wife living in the apartments adjoining the rooms. Funeral services were held Sunday at 1 o'clock and it is expected th the remains will be brought to Dexter in the spring for burial in the family lot. Mr. Macomber is survived by his wife, Mrs. Persis Chandler Macombe and two sons, Merle Macomber, of Springfield, Mass., and Linwood Macomber, of Pawtucket, R. I. Also by three sisters, Mrs. Elva Parcher, of Bradford, R. I., Mrs. Lucina Clark, of Damariscotta and Mrs. E. C. Whittemore, of Waterville.
