Obituary
Mrs. Marion Eliot The many friends of Mrs. Marion Ireland Eliot, widow of Fred Eliot, were shocked Saturday afternoon to learn of her death, which occurred at the Plummer Memorial hospital following a short illness. Mrs. Eliot was taken sick about a week ago and on Friday her condition became serious and she was removed Friday night to the hospital, where he death followed Saturday noon from an ailment she has been fighting for several years. She was about 40 years of age. Mrs. Eliot was a woman of sterling character and an ardent worker for all movements for the betterment of th community and her fellowmen. She was the retiring president of the Dexter Woman's Literary Club, a past president of the Sunshine club and for two years has served as president of the Universalist Ladies Aid, where she was a faithful worker, and a member of Crystal Temple Pythian Sisters. Besides a daughter, Miss Charlotte Eliot, and a son, Robert Eliot, both members of the senior class at the N. H. F. High school, she is survived by her father, Charles Ireland of this town an one sister, Miss Gladys Ireland, also of Dexter. The family have the deep sympathy of a wide circle of friends in their bereavement. Funeral services were held from the First Univiersalist church Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock, Rev. Tracy M. Pullman, officiating. The Sunshine Club, Dexter Woman's Literary Club and Crystal Temple, Pythian Sisters, attended the services in a body. The profusion of beautiful floral offerings bore silent testimony of the high esteem in which she was held by her many friends. Interment was in Mount Pleasant cemetery. The bearers were Duane Mower, Charles Marsh, Eugene Herrick and Fred 0. Herrick of this town. !Eastern Gazette |May 31, 1^8
