Obituary
LOUIS E. Davis Many friends in Dexter will learn with sincere regret of the death of Louis E. Davis, formerly of this town, which occurred at his home, 710 Congress street, Portland, on Saturday. He was a retired Great Atlantic & Pacific Tea Co. store manager and was held in high respect by all who knew him. Born in Katahdin Iron Works, the deceased lived in Bangor until young manhood, then becoming a conductor on the Bangor and Aroostook lines, marrying and moving successively to Belfast, Searsport and Dexter. After 15 years he entered the A. & P. employ and worked in this capacity in Belfast, Waterville and Westbrook, moving 10 years ago from Waterville to the last-named community, where he had his last store. He was a member of the Masonic lodge in Belfast, of the Odd Fellows in Searsport and of the Men's club of the Waterville Universalist church, which he attended. Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Dellie Mae (Ausplin) Davis, and three sisters, the Misses H. Maude Davis, Blanche Davis and Edna Davis, all of Bangor. The funeral was held at noon Tuesday at the home of Miss H. Maude Davis, 83 Hathorn avenue, Bangor, with interment in Mount Hope cemetery.Oct. 23, 1936.
