LORRAINE N. (ROBICHAUD) GILBERT DEXTER – Lorraine N. (Robichaud) Gilbert, 80, died Monday, February 18, 2008. She was born January 5, 1928 in Milo, a daughter of Albert D. and Georgia V. (O’Neil) Robichaud. After graduating from High School in Milo she went on to graduate from the Eastern Academy of Beauty Culture in Bangor. She married Roger T. Gilbert Sept. 18, 1948 and moved to Dexter. For many years she worked as a receptionist for Dr. Howard LaBarge. She then worked as a teller at Merrill Bank in Dexter, retiring after 25 years. Throughout her life she worked as a beautician. Following her retirement, she became very active volunteering throughout the community. She was a member of the Board of Directors at Mayo Regional Hospital (HAD 4), stepping down due to ill health after more than 11 years of service. She continued to volunteer as a greeter until recently. As well, she was very dedicated to the Dexter Historical Society. An avid bridge player, she recently celebrated having played with the same group for over 50 years. Lorraine was a communicant of St. Anne's Church in Dexter and was a member of the Daughters of Isabella. She was also a longtime member of the Dexter Sunshine Club. The family would like to express their heartfelt appreciation to the doctors and staff at Mayo Regional Hospital, especially the nursing staff of the ICU who provided her wonderful care. Lorraine was predeceased by her husband, Roger, a daughter, Baby Annette and a sister Mary Mitchell. Surviving are her five children, Paulette Gilbert of Waldoboro, Mary Ann DiSotto and her husband Michael of San Antonio, TX, Thomas Gilbert and his wife Sonja of Dexter, Richard Gilbert of Lake Arrowhead, CA and Peter Gilbert and his wife Susan of Allison Park, PA; two brothers, Philip Robichaud and his wife Charlene of Hampden and Mark Robichaud and his wife Susan Abel of Dexter; a sister, Laura Fontanarosa of Franklin, MA; five grandchildren, Christopher DiSotto of Cape Elizabeth, Kimberly Grant and her husband Dan of Dexter, Sarah Vazirani and her husband Akshay of Chestnut Hill, MA, Kasey Gilbert of Dexter and Kristin Gilbert of Dexter; two great-grandchildren, Piper Gilbert and Miles Grant, both of Dexter; as well as many nieces and nephews. Family and friends may call Friday, February 22 from 4-8 pm at Crosby & Neal Funeral Home, 61 Main Street, Dexter. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10am, Saturday at St. Anne’s Catholic Church in Dexter with the Rev. Fr. James Robichaud celebrating. Inurnment will be at Mt.
