OPAL F. IRELAND DEXTER , Opal F. Ireland, 84, wife of the late Oscar W. Ireland, passed away May 26, 2007, in Dover-Foxcroft, after a period of ill health. She was born June 8, 1922 in Skowhegan, the daughter of Thomas N. and Effie .(.King) Flewelling. Later the family moved to Silver's Mills and she went to school in Sangerville and graduated from N.H. Fay High School in Dexter. She married Oscar Nov. 27,1940 and when he returned from the Pacific Theatre after World War II they made their home in Corinna for 49 years. She retired from Eastland Woolen Mill in 1985 after 23 1/2 yrs. as a spinner. Later she moved to Dexter. Opal is a member of the Unitarian Universalist Church of Dexter, the Dexter Sunshine Club, and the Cleora Rebekah Lodge #111, and Senior Citizens, both of Corinna. She is survived by three sons, Eric R. and wife Both of Groveland, MA, Bruce K. and wife Deborah of Hermon, and Brent 0. and wife Esther of Corinna; five grandsons, Darrell And wife Cindy of Elkton, MD, Marshall of Haverhill, MA, Joshua of Standish, Benjamin of Buffalo, NY, and Braydon of Syracuse, NY; one great granddaughter, Amanda Ireland of Buffalo, NY; three great great grandchildren; two step-grandchildren, Steven Hersom of Ft. Walton Beach, FL, and Vickie Hersom of Beverly, MA; a brother, Thomas N. and wife Lois of Sutherlin, OR; 11 nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by three sisters, Alfreda Haines, Glennys Roberts, and Edith McLaughlin; three brothers, Forrest, Howard, and Sheldon. At her request, there will be no visiting hours. A graveside committal service will be held Saturday June 9, 2007 at 10:00 AM, at the Nutter Cemetery, Packard Road, Corinna.
