MISS FRANCES E. JOSE Funeral services for Miss Frances Elizabeth Jose, 83, who died early Tuesday morning at her home on the Garland road after several weeks' illness, were held this afternoon (Thurs.) at the Methodist Church. The Rev. Hartwel Daley of the Methodist Church officiated. Burial was in Mt. Pleasant cemetery. She was born in Dexter, Feb. 12, 1870, daughter of Horace H. and Margiana (Hale) Jose and had spent her entire life here. A graduate of Dexter High School, class of 1887, she also received her degree from the Maine Wesleyan Seminary at Kent's Hill, now known as Kent's Hill Seminary. For many years she taught school in Dexter and other Maine towns. Miss Jose was a valued member of Rebecca Weston Chapter, DAR, served as regent from 1933 to 1935, and at the time of her death was registrar, an office she had held for many years. She gave a great deal of her time in compiling genealogical records for prospective DAR members. She was a member of the Dexter Methodist Church, and at one time served as superintendent of the Sunday school. She is survived by one sister, Mrs. Ethel True, with whom she made her home one enephew, H. Elton True, of Methuen, Mass. and a cousin, Mrs. Jesse Hoyt, of Dexter.
