Obituary
DEXTER — Annie May Sawyer, 88, died April 3, 1980, ot a Dexter hospital following a long illness. She was born July 18, 1891, in Hartland, daughter of Alvah and Lucelia (Osborne) Stafford. She was predeceased by her husband, Albert, in 1966 and their only child, Eunice Sawyer Gould in 1978. She graduated from Hartland Academy and lived in Hartland until her marriage in 1909. Since that time she had been a resi- dent of Dexter with the excep- tion of the years between 1926 and 1939 when she and her hus- band lived in New Hampshire and Massachusetts, where Mr. Sawyer was the manager of Pondville Woolen Mills. After returning to Dexter, they operated the NAN-JACKA Farm for many years. She was a member and a past president of the Sunshine Club of Dexter; a former member of the Rebecca Western Chapter, DAR, and Dexter Women's Literary Club, as well as a past president of the Child Welfare Club of Newport, N.H,, and a past president of the Womens Club of Sunapee, N.H. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Dexter. She is Survived by one brother, Kenneth Stafford of Ripley; two grandchildren, Mrs. Dana (Jac- quelyn) Treadwell of Veazie, Mrs. Louis (Nancy) Clukey of Bowie, Md.; nine great - grand- children; one great - great - granddaughter. Funeral services will be held 2. p.m. Monday at the Crosby Funeral Home, 238 Main St., Dexter, with the Rev. John Dunn Jr. officiating. Friends may call Saturday 6 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home. Those who wish may make memorial contributions in Mrs. Sawyer's memory to the Sunshine Club of Dexter. Interment will be in the Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Dex- ter, later in the spring.
