RICHARD E. MAYNARD NEWPORT—Richard Emery Maynard, 45, died suddenly May 27 while playing golf. He was born at Dexter, Sept. 17, 1924,. the son of Philip E. and Hazel Richards Maynard. He was educated in the Schools of Bangor and Dexter joined the U.S. Marine Corps following graduation, and served during World War II. He was married to Isabel Campbell on Aug. 8, 1944 and settled in Newport. Since that time he had worked for Judkins and Gilman Co., the U. S. Post Office, and had operated May- nard's Factory Outlet and Television Service. During the last eight years he had been vice president and sales man- ager for Banton Brothers, Inc. He was a member of the New- port Post, American Legion; past master of Meridian Splen- dor Lodge of Masons; a mem- ber of Stevens Royal Arch Chapter No. 28; a member of the Woodturners and Shapers Association, and the New Eng- land Kiln Drying Association. Survivors include his wife and two sons, A1C William E. Maynard of Nellis AFB, Nev;, and CT3 Robert F. Maynard of the US NSGA Kamiseya,,, sta- tioned in Japan; a sister, Mrs. Cyril Katherine Gilbert of Bath; a brother, W. Philip May- nard of Villa Park, I1l.; a step- mother, Martha L. Maynard of Newport; an .uncle, several cousins, nieces and nephews. Funeral, services will be an- anounced by the Farnham Fun- eral Home, Newport.
