Obituary
FREDERICK HALE DEXTER and BANGOR — Frederick H. Hale, 67, died March I, 1980, at his Bangor residence. He was born in Dex- ter, Aug. 13, 1912, the son of Harry E. and Susan E. (Hayes) Hale. Mr. Hale was a veteran of World War II, serving in the European Theater and was employed prior to his retirement in 1979 by the State of Maine Unemployment Compensation Commission. He was graduated from Dexter High School in 1930 where he was an outstanding baseball and basketball player. During Mr. Hale's senior year he was nominated to the All- Eastern Maine Basketball Team. After graduation, he attended Hebron Academy for one year and continued his studies at Boston University where he was ; captain of the basketball team. After graduation from Boston University in 1935, Mr. Hale returned to Dexter where he worked with his father in Hale Clothing Store. During this time he played baseball in the Eastern Maine and Tri-County leagues for both Dexter and Corinna teams. He was a member of the Dexter Univer- salist Church, the Dexter Club, the Poulliot-Seavey Post 53, American Legion, and the Shirley B. Carter Post 4298, Veterans of Foreign Wars. Mr. Hale is survived by his wife, Reta Dumont Hale of Bangor; two stepsons, Larry Dumont of Allentown, Pa., and Paul Du- mont of Washburn; one step- daughter, Jo Anne Bruner of Rockville, Conn.; one cousin, Norman F. Plough of Dexter; and seven step-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Crosby Funeral Home, 238 Main St. Dexter, with the Rev. Robert Sterling officiating. Honorary pallbearers will be Edmund Lan- dry, Hadley Hopkins and Lloyd H. Hatch, all of Dexter; Walter Kerr of Corinna, Omar Cloutier of Gray, and Gerald Brewster of Cumberland Center.
