JOSEPH S. HANSON RIPLEY — Jospeh S. Hanson, 64, died suddenly at his home Sept. He was born in Ripley, Feb. 11, 1914, the son of Clarence E. and Mande (Foss) Hanson. He attended the schools in Pittsfield. Following the Armed Service in World War II, he lived in Dexter and was in the livestock business with his brother. For the past 20 years he has been engaged as a racehorse driver and trainer. During the past two years he worked at Scarboro Downs. He was a member of the U.S. Trotting Association and the Disable War Veterans Association. He is survived by his wife, Lillian (Goodwin) Hanson of Hollis. Three sons, Joseph C., Victor A. and Steven; two daughters, Bonita and Cheryl, all of Hollis; one brother, Levi R. of Ripley; two sisters, Mrs. Hildrith Blanche of Manchester, and Mrs. Horace P. (Geraldine) Landry of Augusta; aunts, uncles and cousins. Funeral services were Sept. 4 at the Neal & York Funeral Home, Gorham. Shirley B. Carter Post, Veterans of Foreign Wars conduc- ted military services at the grave- side Evergreen Cemetery, Ripley.
