GEORGE E. SAFFORD DEXTER — George E. Saf- ford, 71, died Friday evening at a Portland hospital following a short illness. He was born at Guilford, March 27, 1893, son of Arthur and Carrie (Lane) Safford. He is survived by his mother of Dexter; a sister, Mrs. Mil- dred Christopher of Woods- ville, N. H.; several cousins, and a nephew. He spent most of his life here where he was engaged in the plumbing business. He was a member of Plym- outh Odd Fellows Lodge, Mar- tha Washington Rebekah Lodge, Sylver Lake Encampment, all of Dexter; and of the Penquis Plumbers' Association and a former member of the Knights of Pythias. He attended the Dexter Meth- odist Church. Funeral services will be at 2 :p. m. Monday at the Crosby Funeral Home, Dexter, and pri- vate services will be held at 11:30 a. m. at the residence on lower Main Street. The Rev. Gordon Pariin of the Methodist Church will officiate. Interment will be in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery here.
