BLAINE A. YOUNG CASPER, WY - Blaine A. Young, 73, died Feb. 7 at Central Wyoming Hospice after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Funeral services and burial were held Feb. 11, at the Oregon Trail Veteran's Cemetery near Casper. He was born May 7, 1929, in Dexter, the son of Rodney and Dorothy (Sevey) Young. He served with distinction in the U.S. Navy for 30 years, including the Korean and Vietnam conflicts, and retired as a Chief Petty Officer. In 1964, he married Edie Jenkins in Norfolk, Va., and after her retirement from San Diego Naval Hospital, they moved to Wyoming, where Blaine continued the hunting and fishing he had enjoyed lifelong. Survivors include his wife Edie; one sister and her husband, Ila and Jack Green of Poland, Me.; brothers-in-law "Bunny" Jenkins of NC and John Jenkins of Va.; nephews Mark Young of NJ, and Greg Burns of Windham, Me.; nieces Laurie Flynn of Raymond, Me. and Heather Bingelis of Sabattus, Me.;one aunt, Adelma Sevey of Ripley, Me.; many grand-nieces, grand-nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his parents, and a brother, Dale. Memorial contributions may be made to Central Wyoming Hospice Program, 319 S. Wilson, Casper, Wy., 82601 or to a charity of the donor's choice.
