Obituary
WILLIAM SHIELDS A committal service was held this afternoon (Thurs.) at Mount Pleasant cemetery for William Shields, 71, who died Monday afternoon at his home in Randolph. The Rev. A. Allan Brough of the First Baptist Church officiated. Funeral services were conducted at 1 o'clock at the Amesbury-White Funeral Home in Gardiner. Born in Bath, June 22, 1882, he was the son of Robert and Addie (Keenan) Shields. A former resident of Dexter, he was employed by Fay and Scott for 27 years as a machinist and at one time worked at the Hyde Windlass Company in Bath. He was a member of Penobscot Lodge No. 39, A. F. and A. M., Wassookeag Chapter No. 44, OES, DeMolay Commandery and Mt. Moriah Council of Skowhegan. He is survived by his wife, Effie (Dunton) Shields; three sons, Lloyd W. of Wilton, Harlan C. of Burlington, Vt., and Lyndon of Renton, Wash.; five grandchildren, one great grandchild, several nieces and nephews.
