Identify Body As John Small’s The body found in the Macomber corner area last Thursday was identified as that of John Small of Dexter, who disappeared in that area on Aug. 6, 1959. A county me- dical examiner said there were “suspicions of suicide” in Small's death. Police said the Penobscot sher- liff's department said Small's wife identified the mostly decomposed body by clothing and shoes, and identified the cane found near the body as the one the 81-year odd man had used. Small was buried Satarday in Mt. Pleasant cemetety with services at the grave by the Rev. Warren F. Harmon of t he Free Baptist Church. The body was found in deep woods about a mile off the Gar- land-Dover line road last Thursday morning by Thomas A. Lyford, 17, of Dover. He had been hunting the area with two other Dover men and a hunter from Connecticut. Dr. John Sullivan of Brewer, me- dical examiner, said the death was not accidental and that there are "suspicions" Small's death was suicide. Dr. Sullivan said the cause of death was not definitely deter- mined yet, and the case is still under investigation. John Smal1, 81, a short, thick-set Man, took a taxi to the road lead- ing to Macomber's comer on Aug. 6, 1959. He was never seen again after the taxi driver left him. He left a note for his wife that sug- gested he meant to disappear or die. He was in poor health, and had been known to say he could vanish in Dover South Mills area, which he had hunted over for years.
