Businesman Of Dexter Dies At 68 DEXTER-Willis B. Ayer, 68, died Monday morning at a local hospital following a long illness. He was the oldest businessman on the Main Street, and for about 40 years he had been an electrical contractor and merchant in Dex- ter. A lifelong resident, he was born September 13, 1892, son of Edwin and Louisa (Radcliffe) Ayer. He was a member of Penobscot Masonic Lodge of Dexter and of Anah Temple Shrine of Bangor. He attended the First Universalist Church and was a director of the Penquis Riding Club, Inc. He was a former, fire chief and was, for many years, a member of the Dexter Fire Department. Surviving are his widow, Vera (Dyer) Ayer; two daughters, Mrs. Mark Smith of Pittsburgh, Pa., and Mrs. Norman Hatch of Dex- ter; a brother, Glen C.. Ayer of Dexter; four grandchildren; one great-granddaughter. Funeral services will be held at First Universalist Church Wednesday at 2 p.m., the Rev. E. King Hempel officiating. Burial will be in the family lot Mt. Pleasant Cemetery.
