THE REV. STANLEY G. SPEAR Funeral services were held Sat- urday afternoon in Beverly, Mass.., for the Rev. Stanley G. Spear, a former pastor of the Universalist Church in Dexter. He died Nov. 29 after a long illness at the age of 88. Mr. Spear was born in Hartland, Vt., on July 24, 1873, was a grad- uate of Tufts University, A. B. & B. D., and was ordained into the Ministery at Hartland Universalist Church, Hartland, Vt., in 1900. He held parishes in Maplewood, Mal- den, from 1900-1905; Dexter, Maine, 1905 - 1918; Roxbury, Mass., 1919 - 1930; and Beverly, Mass., 1930 - l945. He served as the Assistant Secretary of the Y.M. C. A. in France during World War I and was a director of the Beverly Y. M. C. A. for many years. He is survived by two nephews: George R. Spear of Beverly and Hadley G. Spear of Worcester; and two nieces, Miss Elizabeth Spear of Hartland, Vt., and Mrs. Grosvnor Dana of Mt. Vernon, N. Y.
