Obituary	FRED A. GILBERT Fred A. Gilbert, 97, who will be remembered by many here because of his visits to his granddaughter, Mrs. Ernest Getchell, of Maple street, died in Allston, Mass., Saturday afternoon. From early childhood, Mrs. Getchell and her sister, Miss Geraldine Peavey, of Detroit, Mich., were cared for by their grandfather, Mr. Gilbert. He was born in Parkman but had been a resident of Bangor for 60 years prior to moving to Allston last September. Mr. Gilbert was engaged in market gardening for several years. A prominent horse trainer, he raised many fine race horses and owned the old ice racing track in N. Brewer. The survivors are a daughter, Mrs. Gertrude Brown, Allston, Mass.; three grandchildren, Mrs. Ernest Getchell of Dexter, Miss Geraldine Peavey of Detroit, Mich., and Sheldon Brown of Medford, Mass.; three great grandchildren and one nephew. Mr. and Mrs. Getchell attended the funeral services Tuesday afternoon at the Pond Funeral Home in Bangor.
