FREDERICK ALAN HUSSEY BOALSBURG, PENN. - Frederick Alan Hussey, 38, of 242 Academy St., Boalsburg, died at Centre Community Hospital Jan. 12, 1982 after an illness. He was an associate professor of administration of justice at the University. He was born Sept. 7, 1943, in Augusta, Maine, a son of Robert Dunbar and A. Dorita Gilman Hussey. He married the former Sandra Chalmers, who survives with two daughters, Jennifer and Andrea; a son, Kevin, and a stepson, Daniel, all at home. Also surviving are his parents of Dexter, Maine; a brother, Richard of Belfast, Maine, and his paternal grandmother, Adalaide Hussey, also of Dexter. Mr. Hussey joined the Penn State faculty in 1972. He was a member of the graduate faculty and was co-coordinator of the field experience program in the administration of justice curriculum. He taught undergraduate and graduate courses including probation and parole, research methods, values and goals. He received bachelor's and master's degrees in psychology from the University of Maine, Orono, Maine, in 1965 and 1967 respectively, and master's and doctor's degrees in social welfare from Brandeis University, Waltham, Mass., in 1973 and 1975. Prior to going to Penn State, he was employed by IBM's systems development division in Endicott, N.Y., from September 1966 to March of 1968, where he was coordinator of personnel research and taught courses in industrial psychology and management development. From 1968 to 1970, he was with the University of Maine where he taught courses in business and industrial psychology and served as research consultant for projects sponsored by the social welfare department and was concurrently a research associate and director of a U.S. Labor Department project. In 1971 and 1972, he worked with the Technical Development Corp. of Bedford, Mass. coordinating the efforts of volunteer men who worked with inmates nearing release from prison on parole. Also in 1971 and 1972, he was employed by the South Shore Mental Health Center, Quincy, Mass., where he planned projects that related mental health service delivery to corrections problems. He was co-author of a book titled "Probation, Parole, and Community Field Services: Policy. Structure, and Process," published by Harper and Row, as well as the author of many professional articles. He was a member of the Society for the Study of Social Problems, the National Council on Crime and Delinquency, the American Society of Criminology and the Pennsylvania Association of Probation, Parole and Corrections. He coached ice hockey for youngsters in the State College area and was active with bicycle moto-cross in Stormstown. He attended Calvary Baptist Church., State College. Funeral services were held at Koch Funeral Home, State College with the Rev. Richard H. Ottoson officiating. Burial will be in Waterville. Maine.
