Obituary
SHIRLEY D. GREEN DEXTER - Shirley D. Green, 76, wife of Philip A. Green, died May 14, 1997 in Bangor. She was born December, 12, 1920 in Atkinson, the daughter of John W. and Elizabeth (Blake) Doore Sr. She was a graduate of Higgins Classical Institute. Shirley created for her family a beautifully decorated home filled with a variety of crafts designed by her and meticulously worked to perfection. Her family enjoyed dining year round on the fruits of her gardening. Shirley had a dry sense of humor and a tremendous wit which were enjoyed by all who knew her. Her home was tastefully dotted with floral arrangements she created from the many bushes and gardens she lovingly tended. Her talents ran from sewing her daughter's wedding gown and those of ten attendants to creating prom dresses for her granddaughters to designing and hand-stitching quilts under which many of her family slept. Her grandchildren cuddled with the many teddy bears Grammie loved to make for them. Most importantly, along with a warm and inviting home, she provided her family with patience, wisdom, lessons in her many skills, and so much love. She will be missed by many. She is survived by her husband Philip of Dexter; two sons, Ronald P. Sr. and his wife Carole of Plymouth, and their children, Ronald P. Jr. and Lanci E. Costain, Dennis W. and his wife Claudette of Brownville and their children, Beatrice Ann Russell, Tammy Jo Millette, Claude Joseph Murray, Roscoe John Green; a daughter Linda and her husband Lawrence Amsden of Newport, and their children, Tobrina Lynn Amsden and Amanda Lynn Amsden; a brother, Malcolm Doore of Atkinson; a sister, Frances Royal of Brewer; 9 great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and her special Felix. Funeral services were held at the Lary Funeral Home, Dover-Foxcroft, May 17, with Rev. David McLeish officiating. Burial will be in the family lot in Sweet Cemetery, Atkinson.
