Rites Held For Drowning Victim Funeral services were held this afternoon, Thursday, at the Crosby Funeral Home for Russell Jon Gil- bert, 22, who was drowned Sunday evenipg at Lake Wassookeag, Dex- ter in a boating accident. The Rev. Charles Eugene Mi- chaud of Edmundston, N. B. offi- ciated. Bearers were George Sea- ger, Bangor, Stanford Dulac, Dex- ter, Walter Box, Sangerville, Ed- ward Gay, Newport. Interment was in the family lot at Mt. Pleasant cemetery. The husband of Eleanor (Cook- son) Gilbert, he leaves two small children, Johnny, age 3, and Ro- zanne, 2 years old. Born in Dexter, Nov. 16, 1934, son of Thomas and Nathalie (Jock) Gilbert, he spent most of his life in Dexter, although the family is presently living in Parkman, where he was engaged in lumbering. Besides his wife and two chil- dren, he is .survived by his par- ents; his maternal grandmother, Mrs. Emma Gilbert, of Grove St., Dexter; three brothers, Marshall of Dexter, Milton and Merle of Park- man; two sisters, Mrs. Thomasine Blanchard of Dexter and Diana Gilbert of Parkman, several aunts and uncles. The body of Russell "Sonny" Gilbert, victim of the capsizing, was recovered shortly after 9 a. m. Monday morning after nine boats of firemen, directed by Chief Pres- ton Richardson, had been grappling since 4:30 that morning.
