Leonard M. Haseltine Leonard Mayo Haseltine died at his home on the Dover-Foxcroft road in this town late Thursday night at the age of 74 years, following a very brief illness from heart disease. Besides his widow, Mrs. Florence Haseltine he is survived by two brothers, Joseph S. Haseltine of Pittsfield and William J. Haseltine of this town. Five sons and one daughter also survive him, W. E. Haseltine of Atlanta, Ga., Fred L. Haseltine of Hartland, Theodore H. Haseltine, Ernest Haseltine, Clyde Haseltine and daughter, Blanche, all of Dexter. The deceased was a native of this town and a faithful member of the First Baptist church in which he has served as a deacon for a great many years. He was a charter member of Dexter Grange, having been worthy master for several years, also chaplain of the order at the time of his death. He was a man highly respected by all who knew him, of sterling character and kindly disposition. The family has the sincere sympathy of many friends in its bereavement. Funeral services were conducted from the First Baptist church Monday morning at 10 o'clock, Rev. C. D. Hazelton, pastor of the church officiating. Mrs. Edna Marsh presided at the church organ. The floral offerings were numerous and very beautiful. The bearers were Messrs Chas. Chandler, Wilbur Gerry, Nathan Daggett and Charles F. Bean. Interment was at Mount Pleasant cemetery. A large delegation of members of Dexter Grange attended the services. Among the out of town people here to attend the funeral were, Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Haseltine, Mrs. Harry R. Coolidge and Mr. and Mrs. Frank Haseltine of Pittsfield and Mr. and Mrs. Fred Haseltine of Hartland. also from 1-17-1924, p.5 Leonard Mayo Haseltine Leonard Mayo Haseltine was born in Dexter July 29th, 1849. He was the oldest son of William J. and Eloisa E. Haseltine. His father, a soldier in the Civil war died in 1863. His mother died in 1902. Two brothers, William J. Haseltine of Dexter and Joseph S. Haseltine of Pittsfield survive him. In 1876 he was united in marriage with Mary P. Shaw, who died in February 1901. They had seven sons, four of whom are now living, W. E. Haseltine of Atlanta, Ga., Fred L. Haseltine of Hartland, Theodore H. Haseltine and Ernest F. Haseltine of Dexter. Twenty-one years ago he married Miss Florence M. Russell of Exeter. Besides his four sons by the first marriage, his widow and their two children, Clyde R. and Blanche M. Haseltine are left to mourn a kind and loving husband and father. Mr. Haseltine was a charter member and first chaplain of Dexter Grange, P. of H., and has held that office nearly half the time since the Grange was organized. About fifty years ago he became a member of the First Baptist church. He served the church as deacon for many years and has always been an active worker in the church. A good man has gone to his reward.
