WILLIAM B. GRANT DEXTER- William B. Grant, 64, died at his home on Sunday, April 16, 2006 after many years of complications from diabetes. Bill earned his B.S. & M.Ed. from the University of Maine. He was a teacher and school administrator for over 30 years with positions in Dexter, Candia, N.H., Fifth St. Middle School in Bangor, Bangor Adult Education and East Grand School in Danforth. After retiring in 1998 he worked as coordinator of the Penquis CAP Foster Grandparent Program for five years. Most recently he enjoyed private tutoring. Bill found immense satisfaction in encouraging youth, both in his professional career and in his varied positions of Christian service. His own children and family were the joy of his life. Bill was a deacon at the First Baptist Church in Dexter at the time of his death and was an example of courage to many. He will be remembered for loving his summers at Big Indian, his love for the Lord, his family, gardening, history and reading. Bill is survived by Shirley, his loving wife of 41 years, his son Trooper Matt & wife Kathy Grant of Dover-Foxcroft; daughter Amy & husband Chad Thurlow of Newburgh; daughter Sara Grant & her fiancé, Joshua Martinelli of Simsbury CT. Also his mother-in-law Winnifred Crocker; brother James Grant & wife Velma; sister Nancy Grant of Windham; brother-in-law Barry Crocker & wife Ruth of Hampden, aunts, uncles, & loving family members and lifelong friend, Jim Davenport of Wyckoff, NJ. He adored his four granddaughters: Abbey, Maygan, Emelia Grant & Chloe Thurlow. The family thanks his faithful friends Jim Robinson & Vern Bodwell. The family extends sincere appreciation to the competent and caring staff at EMMC, specifically the renal dialysis unit. Visiting hours will be held Tuesday, April 18 from 4-7pm at the Crosby Neal Funeral Home, 61 Main Street in Dexter. Funeral services will be held at the First Baptist Church, Main Street Hill in Dexter at 2pm on Wednesday, April 19. The interment will be at the Crocker Cemetery in St. Albans on Thursday.
