High Mass Sung For Fr. Berard A Pontifical Requiem High Mass was sung by Bishop Daniel J. Feeney in St. Ignatius Church at Sanford Tuesday morning for the Rev. Raymond Albert Berard, 46, assistant pastor of St. Anne's Catholic Church, Dexter. Father Berard died early Saturday morning in Sister's Hospital, Waterville, where he was taken Friday evening after falling on the stairs at the Dexter rectory. Interment was in Woonsocket, R. I. A native of Woonsocket, he was born there Nov. 1, 1906, son of Emerie and Adelire Berard. He was educated at Sacred Heart College, Woonsocket, R. I., the Junior Seminary at Joliet, Que., and St. Augustine's, Toronto, Canada. Since his ordination in Portland about l8 years ago, he had served as assistant pastor in N. Berwick, Dexter and Sanford. An illness of three years required a year of inactivity at his Rhode Island home, after which he was recalled to Dexter. He is survived by four brothers, Leo, Alfred, Ernest and Henry Berard and three sisters, Gertrude, Germaine and Evelyn Berard, all of Woonsocket, R. I. note: photo accompanied article
