Obituary	Mrs. Arabelle Pennington Cousens, whose death occurred in East Saugus, Mass., Nov. 18th, was born in Dexter in 1846. She was the only daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Pennington. Her father was for a long time a furniture dealer in this town. Mrs. Cousens did not marry until some 17 years ago, having remained at home with her parents. For a number of years she was employed in Ayer's dry goods store and was well known by her townspeople. She is kindly remembered by a large circle of acquaintances and by none more kindly than those of the Cong'l Church, of which she was a member, having joined in her girlhood, following the example of her uncle, Dr. Crowell, who was one of the early members of the church. In her leisure years she gave herself to church work, being especially helpful as a Sunday School teacher. Her Sunday School class is still spoken of and many useful men received moral and religious training in her class of boys. In 1885 she married the Rev. 0. M. Coneens, a Primitive Methodist minister. After her marriage her husband held pastorates in Lawrence, Mass., Providence, R. I., and St. Clair, Pa. During the St. Clair pastorate their only child was born, who is now a young lad of thirteen years. Mr. Cousens' health failing they returned to Dexter and have since resided in the Spring street home. Mr. Cousens died in 1900 after some years of feebleness; during this time his wife carried the double burden of nurse and housekeeper. Two years ago the trouble that caused her death became apparent. With considerable fortitude she left home for a surgical operation in the hopes of permanent relief but the disease was too firmly seated to be subdued. Returning to her home she battled with pain and weakness, suffering as only a cancer patient suffers. In June of this year she returned to Boston in the hope of relief but the physicians gave no hope. Since then she has made her home with her only brother, Mr. Frank Pennington of East Saugus, where her death occurred Nov. 18th. Sickness in her brother's family kept them from coming to the funeral and necessitated the lonely journey for the young son who came on alone with his mother's body. The funeral was at her home and was attended by a large number of friends and relatives. Interment was at Elmwood cemetery.
