Obituary	Death of C. A. Gilman. Charles A. Gilman, who bad been a resident of Meeker county since the year 1877, died at his home near Forest City on Wednesday morning of this week, following a long period of ill health. The immediate cause of death was creeping paralysis from which he had been a sufferer for some time. The funeral services were held yesterday afternoon from the G. A. R. hall under the auspices of Frank Daggett Post, G. A. R., of which the deceased was a respected member. Rev. R. C. Mitchell of the Presbyterian church officiated. Interment was in the Litchfield cemetery. C. A. Gilman was born at Sangerville, Maine, August 25, 1846. He remained with his parents until the age of twelve when he began to work more or less for himself. In 1863 he heard the call of his country for his services and enlisted in September of that year in Co. E, Second Maine Cavalry, serving until September 1865 when he was honorably discharged from the service. In October, 1865, he was united in marriage to Miss Angelina S. Fisher also a native of Maine. Seven years later he came to Minneapolis where for a time he conducted a lumber business. In 1877 he removed to Meeker county to the town of Cosmos which was the home of himself and family for many years and until six or seven years ago when he removed to Forest City town which had continued his home since. Some years ago his health began to decline gradually, his system becoming weaker and weaker until death finally released him. He is survived by the widow and two sons, George Gilman of Minneapolis, and C. A. Gilman, Jr., who resides at home. Mr. Gilman was genial in his companionship and was highly respected as a citizen by the large number of people who came to know him in his nearly thirty years' residence in the county. -- Littlefield (Minn.)
