Obituary	Passed on Before. Miss Mattie Maxfield passed away from the trials of this world and followed the stern boatman across the river, Tuesday evening. Mattie left the GAZETTE office one night early last fall with a headache. This developed into a severe attack of diphtheria, followed by a fever, from the effects of which she never recovered. Her bright presence will be sadly missed by the young people of Dexter, among whom she had a host of warm-hearted friends. The funeral services were held at house, Thursday forenoon. Rev. Mr. Whitman officiating. The services were attended by a large number of young people, and the family have the deepest of sympathy from the whole community in their bereavement.
