Obituary
Death of Wm. H. Dustin. We regret to announce the death of William H. Dustin, which occurred Tuesday last shortly after noon. He had been for some time very seriously ill, and for that reason his death was not unexpected. He was born in Dexter in Nov. 1844. He received his education mainly in the village schools, though he supplemented this with a course at the Eastman Business College at Poughkeepse, N. Y. He was a thorough business man and had a fine grasp of details and faculty for the management of affairs. He early came to take a prominent part in the firm of N. Dustin & Co., and for many years has had control of its business. The firm entered upon the building of machinery as one part of its business and from this grew the present industry in Dexter. The firm had severe losses by fire, but has always pushed to the front and led in business. To it Dexter owes many of its best improvements of recent years. Mr. Dustin was genial and pleasant and had a host of friends. Few men in Maine had a wider acquaintance with commercial travelers than he. He took much interest in social events, in politics, and particularly in Masonry, having been at the head of Penobscot Lodge, St. Johns R. A. Chapter and a member of St. Johns Commandery at Bangor. In all these relations he will be sadly missed, and we must all feel that in his death Dexter has met with a real loss. Mr. Dustin's funeral occurred yesterday, Rev. J. R. Clifford officiating. The burial was with Masonic ceremonies by Penobscot Lodge. The Masonic attendance was unusually large, many members coming from other towns to pay their tribute of respect.
