Obituary
CHARLES E. HIGGINS Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at the Crosby Funeral Home for Charles Enoch Higgins, 87, who died early Monday morning at a local hospital after several years' illness. The Rev. A. Allan Brough of the First Baptist Church officiated. Interment was at Mt. Pleasant cemetery. Bearers were: Wendell and Jasper Higgins, Dexter; John H. Higgins, Augusta and Harland Benner, Jr. of Fairfield. Mr. Higgins was born in Sebec, May 30, 1865, son of Charles A. and Nancy Lucinda (Angove) Higgins. A resident of Guilford for a time, where he was a foreman on the B. & A, railroad, he moved to Dexter in 1915. He was a carpenter by trade, and for nine years was superintendent of the Dexter Town Farm. He was a past noble grand of Good Cheer Lodge, IOOF, Guilford. Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Ethel Jack, Dover-Foxcroft; three sons, Paul T., Wendell F. and Jasper M. Higgins, all of Dexter; three brothers, Adelbert, William D. and Edson Higgins, all of Dover-Foxcroft; two sisters, Miss Lucy Higgins, Dover-Foxcroft and Mrs. Susie Ricker, Milo; two grandsons, John H. Higgins, Augusta, Harland Benner, Jr., Fairfield; three granddaughters, Mrs. Katherine Noyes, Old Town, Mrs. Martha Tracy, Newton, Mass., Mrs. Regina Spiotti of Washington, D. C., and several great grandchildren.
