Obituary
Jessie May Sands The people of our village were greatly shocked on Wednesday to learn of the death of Miss Jessie May Sands, one of the graduating class of Dexter High school. Miss Sands was a young lady who was most highly regarded by all and she was laboring hard to acquire an education. Her health had not been good for some time but her ambition had kept her at work on her studies. Recently she took a school in Garland which she taught for a time, at the same time keeping up her school work. Last week she was obliged to give up the school, her health not permitting her to continue. She resumed her place in school, attended the baccalaureate services on Sunday with her class and was apparently as well as usual. Tuesday morning she visited one of the stores and walked home. She sat down to do some writing and shortly fell in a faint. Her mother was away from home at the time. On recovering from the faint she managed to call some men working near and ask for assistance. Her mother was at once notified and Drs. Burgess and Bumps called. They were unable to do anything for her and she died within an hour. The cause of her death was embolism, the forming of a clot of blood which evidently located at the base of the brain. She was conscious to the close and evidently suffered intensely. Miss Sands was 19 years old last December and a young lady of more than usual intelligence and possessed many lovable qualities which gained her a large circle of friends. She leaves a father and mother, Mr. and Mrs. A. J. Sands, two brothers and a sister. The members of her class in school deeply feel the affliction which has befallen them. The funeral will be held Friday afternoon at one o'clock, Rev. H. B. Haskell officiating.
