Obituary
Arthur N. Bean Many people in this and adjoining towns will miss the genial face of Mr. A. N. Bean of Lawrence, Mass. He passed away peacefully at his home Sunday, Jan. 26,1902. Mr. Bean has been here summers for the past few years buying horses. Following is a brief sketch of his life taken from a Lawrence paper. Death has again invaded the ranks of the oldest citizens and Arthur N. Bean, a well known business man has gone to his reward. He passed away at his home, 175 Broadway, after a brief illness from the effects of a paralytic shock. His age was 78 and he leaves a widow and two daughters, Mrs. Wm. J. Findlay, of Andover, and Mrs. Walter A. Dunlap, of Dexter, Me. Mr. Bean was born in West Andover and his early life was spent in that town. He came to Lawrence 35 years ago, just after the close of the civil war, and he has resided here ever since. He established a livery and sale stable business in which he was successful, and he was looked upon as one of the business men of the city. He was a man of excellent judgment and business tact and was known and respected far and near for his integrity and ability. Although well advanced in years, he was full of energy and attended to the details of his business until he was stricken with his last illness. He was a kind neighbor, a loyal, faithful friend, an affectionate and loving husband and father and he was honored and respected by all who enjoyed his acquaintance. Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon and were largely attended, interment was in West Andover.
