Obituary
Lizzie Danforth As a result of a very serious surgical operation at a Lewiston hospital, the death occured Tuesday noon of Miss Lizzie Danforth, now of Skowhegan, but formerly of Lewiston. Miss Danfortb, who was about 35 years of age, has been in poor health for several years, even before leaving Lewiston two years ago. Her condition failed to improve and an operation was advised. Two weeks ago she came down from Skowhegan and visited friends in Lewiston and Lisbon Falls. Last Friday she returned to Lewiston and entered the hospital and on Saturday underwent the operation. Monday it was evident there was no hope for her recovery, despite the best of care. Her only relative a sister, Mrs. Jennie Danforth Judkins of Skowhegan, has been in the city the last few days and with the sick one most of the time. Many friends here have interested themselves in her case and remembered her kindly. She was a member of the Main street Free Baptist church and in that society was dearly beloved by all who knew her. Miss Danforth's native place was Dexter where she lived until she came to Lewiston to do millinery work. She occupied half of the store on Lisbon street with J. M. Fernald. Later she worked with the Misses Millett. The remains will be taken to the home of Mr. and Mrs. Geo. S. Longley in Lewiston where Mrs. Judkins has been staying. Services probably will be held on Thursday and the body will be taken away for interment. (Lewiston Journal)
